Resource Teams help Georgia’s communities focus on building a climate of success for families and business. Basing our work on the Department’s Quality Community Objectives (QCO), our staff can help your local government work toward long-term community vitality and economic health through our Resource Teams. We will analyze and address specific issues within your community and provide a set of written recommendations based on our findings.

Resource Team assistance involves the following:

  • DCA staff visit the community to meet with staff and elected officials and tour the target area. We will agree, with the community, on the products to be provided by the team.
  • After this initial visit, the team will develop the agreed-upon products.
  • Upon product completion, the team will return to the community to present the results and outline the next steps necessary for the community to implement the team’s recommendations.
  • The usual Resource Team assistance time frame is 3-6 months.  Project length will depend on the complexity of the initial request.

Typical types of Resource Team assistance include:

  • Assistance in creating or updating the Community Vision portion of the local comprehensive plan
  • Recommending strategies for achieving any of the Quality Community Objectives the community chooses to pursue.
  • Developing strategies for improving conditions in a target area identified in the community’s local comprehensive plan.
  • Review of local land development regulations for consistency with the community’s local comprehensive plan and suggesting needed updates of these regulations.
