Best Practices and Georgia Examples Program Description | Contact Information Program DescriptionFor more than thirty years, the Department has worked with communities large and small across Georgia. Over these years, our staff has gained an extensive range of knowledge regarding “successful communities.” We’ve pared this knowledge down to ten Quality Community Objectives (QCO) that provide specifics for building a climate of success in each community. For each QCO we provide a supporting menu of Best Practices: proven tools and techniques other communities have employed successfully to achieve particular objectives. These examples range from simple to complex, incentive-based to regulatory, inexpensive to more costly – so that your community can choose the ideal Best Practices to fit its local needs and resources. Georgia Examples celebrate the communities across the state that are successfully implementing the Best Practices in a variety of ways. We highlight these communities and provide a description of each example, which QCO and Best Practice it pursues, and local contact information. Please contact us if you know of local success stories that should be included as Georgia Examples, or if you would like help implementing any of the Best Practices.
