ALERT: DCA Fall Conference set for Oct. 6-7 in Savannah to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew

Atlanta, GA (October 5, 2016) – Out of an abundance of caution, we will be rescheduling the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Fall Conference and CDBG Workshop, which had been planned for Thursday and Friday (Oct. 6-7) at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah.

Our team has been closely monitoring conditions, including Governor Nathan Deal’s declaration of a state of emergency for 13 Georgia counties, which included Savannah-Chatham.  Though Savannah-Chatham has yet to issue evacuation orders, traffic has increased due to mandatory evacuations of the South Carolina coast.  The hotel remains open, but considering all, including the timing of Hurricane Matthew’s anticipated path along the Georgia coast, it seems imprudent to travel to Savannah at this time.

The DCA Fall Conference, particularly the CDBG Workshop and awards presentation, are very important to our collective community development efforts.  We are working to reschedule the conference at the Savannah Hyatt in the near future, and details will be distributed to all who have registered.  Updates will also be available on the DCA website: www.dca.ga.gov.
